Positions and Projects
Pittsburgh Prep
Pittsburgh Prep is an educational company serving students primarily in the Pittsburgh area through test preparation, academic tutoring, and college consulting.
My role sits at the intersection of teaching, technology, and operations. I work with students directly and help build the systems and curriculum that allow our educators to be so effective and insightful.
At the end of the day, my work is all about obstacles and overcoming them. Whether we’re talking about a challenging test or a pain-point class, if I can’t help a student make the connections, I’ve likely vetted a guide that will.
Part of that guidance involves overseeing creation of our LMS and populating it with quality questions, assessments, and content – not AI slop! I also ensure our compliance with the Department of Education.
College Classes
I’ve been called upon to teach college classes intermittently, from gen-ed requirements to specific tech and nursing groups. The experience usually is rewarding for both me and my cohorts when we can move beyond syllabus requirements and recognize the importance of personal growth.
The English language can feel like a nebulous study, especially if it isn’t anchored in real-world outcomes and a perpetually shifting culture. A good English class accounts for the fact that student needs and concerns often intersect in ways that move a class from “pass this quiz” to “I can see this in my life.
